Dusting

I woke up this morning with absolutely NOTHING on the plate in terms of tasks to accomplish. It's cold as fuck in the EP and I ain't no Ryder Cupper...they played in 32 degree weather on the second day...so I asked the wife for a task. She said "dusting." So I dusted this morning. Dusting is a task that allows one to think, A LOT. About why my brothers have turned into such Tools Of The State, about how much I'm grateful for God blessing me with an AWESOME son and grandkids, about what things that I've been blessed with that I TOTALLY don't deserve, and about patience. God made Adam from dust, and He said "from dust shall you return." Hmmmm. From dust you shall return. The dirt that we track in, the pollen that will soon blow all over the place, the hair of a new animal that I KNOW we're gonna get now that Hon's grieving time over Molly is over... Dusting.

Potato Rant

i got a bag of Russet's at (name withheld at the insistence of attorneys) on Friday. Go to start peeling this morning and THREE OUTTA EIGHT are unusable. Potato blight or somesuch shit. You know, when the inside looks like late stage frostbite, all black and shit. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. But you know what Mikey Bloomberg's news said yesterday? IF YOU MAKE LESS THAN $300K a year, eat lentils instead of meat to save money. Look, I pray every morning that God gives me trust. I know He is. But saying it in the abstract is difficult when you look at potato peelings in the sink and have that microsecond thought, "Damn, I oughta keep these..." THAT'S where we're at right now.

That is SO not Old Skool that I think it is a cultural pull, a psychic "click" of yet another chain around an extremity, of the "Joe Biden Presidency." Like, if he's not in charge, who is? In b-ball's case, it's EXTREMELY competent assistant coaches who go on to greatness. LOOK IT UP. Name for me a coach who went from nuthin to legend. Prolly Wooden was the last one. He's got pretty much all his dough - all $1,283 of it or whatever the fuck - in that stock. And it hit me: Otto, you're banging your head against the fooking wall trying to talk sense to ANY of these waterheads. Our local grocery (I don't do doxxing so it will remain anonymous) has been putting out for sale some absolutely SHIT onions lately. They present as hard, hefty spheroids but inside they're already sprouting and the texture is halfway to mush. They're FOOKING DISGUSTING. Add to that, when I added some chopped pieces to saute for my dinner omelet last night, I woke up around 11:30 with BAD cramping and had a horrible bout of diarrhea. That basically NEVER happens to this old kid. So I pondered some this morning and decided that it's just the latest sign that things really ARE turning to shit under the "leadership" of "Joe Biden" (h/t James Howard Kunstler). His is not a Presidency of benign neglect. It actively hates us.
